Kia ora Royaa!
I really enjoyed seeing your latest “flying fauna” creation. It is such a clever idea to use different leaf shapes to represent the different parts of a bird!
The large, serrated leaves you used for the wings make it look like the bird has real, jagged feathers ready for flight.
Your “tips” section is very helpful for other students! Recommending that people use scissors to shape their items is a great way to get a more realistic look for the animal’s body.
You made a great point about this being a good activity to keep away from screens! Spending time outdoors in the fresh air is a perfect way to recharge during the summer holidays.
I noticed you used quite a few different types of leaves for this bird. Did you have to go on a long hunt around your garden to find that perfectly round leaf for the bird’s head?
Keep up the wonderful work and enjoy the rest of your screen-free outdoor activities!

Kia ora Zana! Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback. Iโm really happy you liked how the serrated leaves looked for the wings! I agree that spending time outside away from screens is so refreshing, and Iโm glad you found my tip about using scissors helpful for other students. It actually took a bit of searching in the garden to find just the right shapes, especially that round leaf for the head, but it was a lot of fun to put together. Thanks for the encouragement!
Kia Ora Royaa, My name is Somya From Wigram Primary School (Te Piki Kahu) In Christchurch!
Your work regarding the Flying Fauna’s criteria of this week was incredible! The thought of making a “Bird out of nature materials” is even more amzing! You should be very proud of yourself, from precise cuts till searching for leaves everthing was perfect, your hard work is paying you off well!
Putting 2 leaves in a v shape giving the wings a magnificent look was a very intelligent idea. I love the way you also added very small cuts at the ends to give it a well recognized shape, looks even better! One question I had for you is that do you know what this leaf’s branch is called? What tree was it growing on?
Good Job Royaa And remember to keep up the good work throughout these holidays

That is such a thoughtful perspective! I really appreciate you taking the time to share thisโitโs both encouraging and genuinely helpful for anyone looking to simplify things. Thanks for adding so much value to the conversation!
Kia Ora Royaa,
I really like how you made your flying faunas. The bird made out of leaves is really green and cool. It is very cute and beautiful. Very well done! What were the leaves you used to make this bird?

Kia Ora, Isa Thanks for your lovely comment I’m glad to hear you liked how I made my natural bird art, I used leaves from my apple tree which had a great shape for the two wings but for my birds head and body I used some tools such as scissors to cut out the perfect shape!!!
Kind regards
Royaa
